As a reminder, to enable the 9-8-8 mental health crisis number nationwide, 10-digit dialing will be implemented in Newfoundland on May 31st, 2023. 10-digit dialing will be mandatory for both local and long-distance calling.

This may affect the operation of equipment with pre-programmed numbers, including home security systems, lifeline equipment and other wireless devices.

We highly recommend updating the numbers programmed into these devices to include the full 10-digit phone numbers prior to April 4th, 2023 to ensure they continue to function properly. Special numbers such as 9-1-1 will still be dialed using 3 digits.

For more information, please chat with us or visit https://my.eastlink.ca/customer-support/10-digit-dialing.

Success! Message received.

As many of you have heard, there is concerning information in the media referring to arsenic found in artesian wells in Moreton's Harbour.

Please be assured the Town's wells get tested on an annual basis through our Provincial Government as well as monthly testing throughout the community for Coliforms, E. Coli and Chlorine levels.

Since November 2010, there has been 0.000 mg/L of arsenic tested in our wells.

For more information concerning what is tested being tested, visit maps.gov.nl.ca

October 28, 2021 - Update!

Digital Government and Service NL (DGSNL) is looking for feedback on possible changes to the Lottery Licensing Regulations, which regulate charitable gaming in Newfoundland and Labrador. These types of lotteries include bingo, ticket sales, games of chance, sports lotteries, break-open lotteries and Monte Carlo lotteries that are for charitable or religious purposes.

While we recognize that municipalities are not eligible for a charitable lottery license, there are organizations within the community that have done so. To assist in providing all organizations, and community members, an opportunity to participate in the consultations, we are asking municipalities to post a link to the questionnaire on their website.

This is an important Bulk Collection message from The Burin Peninsula Regional Service Board:

Please be advised that due to the safety measures in place for COVID-19 our Monthly Household Bulk Collection is delayed and tentatively rescheduled for June. Please follow the Provincial Fire Regulations and refrain from burning your bulk and waste items. Also we ask that you not place items at the curbside until a new date is confirmed and check our website for updates. The Landfill Site continues usual operations for residents who wish to deliver their own Bulk items to the Public Drop Off area. Safety is our main concern as we continue to provide essential collection services during the COVID-19 pandemic.
